Are you planning to purchase a Sea Doo? Are you already the proud owner of one? Then you probably already know all about the exhilarating thrill and adrenaline rush that comes with zipping through the water on your Sea Doo. But if you’re just looking into getting one, here are some tips to help you get the most out of it!
What Is A Sea Doo?
The Sea-Doo brand is one of several owned by Bombardier Recreational Products, a company that also owns Ski-Doo snowmobiles and formerly owned Canadair aircraft. The watercraft are designed for use on and around water—thus, Sea Doo rather than Jet Ski—and they come in three varieties: personal watercraft (often called jet skis), larger cruisers, and all-terrain vehicles. Personal watercraft are generally small two- or four-seat vehicles with a flat bottom so they can be driven up onto shore.
Learn Where to Go
Make sure you know where you’re going before you hop on your boat. If you don’t know where to go, look into renting a boat and experience fun in one of several different ways. Consider taking lessons if you need a refresher course on how to operate your Sea Doo, or if you are new to boating. Then it is time for adventure and fun! Sea doos are great watercrafts because they can go fast when needed or slow and steady when that is preferred. This makes them useful for multiple types of adventures at any given time. Overall, enjoy riding your sea doo in beautiful warm weather with family and friends today!
Ride Safely
Inflatable boats are a blast, but they can also be dangerous. Here’s how to stay safe while doing your thing on an inflatable boat. After you get through safety training with your Sea-Doo dealer, come back and check out these seven tips for staying safe on your boat. (Hint: Make sure you’re wearing a life jacket!) (Hint 2: Don’t drink or ride when operating watercraft.)
Know What You’re Getting Into
If you’ve never driven a Sea Doo before, make sure you’re aware of its characteristics. If your last boating experience was in a powerboat, don’t expect that your new Sea-Doo will drive like one. The characteristics that made it stand out when first introduced—lightweight and fun handling—are still there, but that doesn’t mean you can forget about physics and how boats work. Approach these watercraft with respect; give yourself time to adjust and keep an open mind about what makes them so great. Once you get used to riding a Sea-Doo, though, rest assured it won’t be long before it’s all you want for recreational boating.
Know What To Wear
Before you head out on your Sea Doo, make sure you have a life jacket. You don’t want to run into an unsafe situation and not have all of your safety equipment ready for you. You’ll also want gloves because it makes it easier for you to hold onto and maneuver your Sea Doo. Paddle with one hand and steer with the other! Additionally, if it’s sunny, don sunglasses—you can easily get a sunburn if you aren’t careful. Sunglasses are especially important in Florida where there is year-round sun exposure!
Have Fun!
There’s no shame in admitting that you’re scared at first. You might have a fear of drowning or tipping over, but it’s important not to let your fear control you. If you’re afraid that you’ll tip, for example, steer clear of tricks like rooster tails, where you aim backwards off waves and can potentially do a backflip. Learn all about your Sea-Doo and its capabilities before hitting open water so that if anything does go wrong, it won’t catch you by surprise. At sea level on calm waters, practice some basic moves like riding with one foot forward, which helps improve balance and maneuverability in rough waters.
